The picturesque meadows in the commune of Bytnica are also known as “deer meadows”. For over 200 years, the vast meadows have been the rutting ground for the deer. The rutting starts immediately before sunset and ends at dawn. The stags’ barks, which echo above the meadows for about a month during rutting, gave rise to the local legends of monsters howling in the woods.
