Palace in Kargowa

Address Babimojska 2c, 66-120 Kargowa

The palace, built in the years 1731-33, was remodelled at King Augustus II the Strong’s commission by the architect Johann Knoffel. The palace served as the royal residence when the King travelled between Dresden and Warsaw. The King’s death in 1733 interrupted the remodelling works, and in 1735 the palace was burned down by the locals. It was renovated and eventually completed as a smaller building. In 1837, the palace was seized by the Prussians who sold it to a German family. The palace facilities also include a granary and a cellar dating back to the second half of the 18th Century.
