In the municipal cemetery, you can see a monument to the German soldiers fallen in World War I. The monument, uncovered in 1925, was eventually considered a masterpiece and awarded the first prize in the competition for works commemorating the Great War. In the cemetery, to the right of the entrance to the chapel, there is a small lapidarium, including the tombstone of Otto Rubow, the mayor of Sonnenburg between 1892 and 1924 and one of the most distinguished figures in the history of the town.
