The nature reserve, which covers nearly 400 hectares, protects the natural and semi-natural riparian forests - the type of forest growing on river floodplains. The terrace is dominated by riparian oak forests, wetlands, broads and oxbow lakes. The forests beyond the flood bank are composed mainly of English oaks and also beeches and pines. You can see plenty of valuable plant species there, including the rare floating watermoss. The fauna of the nature reserve is equally interesting, in particular the large population of middle spotted woodpecker, and the local invertebrates and amphibians.
