On 17 October 1999, on the 150th anniversary of the death of Frédéric Chopin, the genius composer’s monument was uncovered in the north-eastern corner of the square bearing his name. The monument is a metal bust of Chopin on a pedestal, sculpted by Marek Jerzy Nowakowski.
