The church was built in the years 1779-1796 according to the design prepared by Karol Marcin Frantz. The steeples were added later, after the church had burned down in 1850, during the subsequent reconstruction. The building was remodelled, adding a sacristy and a chapel on the sides. The steeples have undergone renovation recently. Both steeples are crowned by polygonal tents with roof lanterns. The temple is visible from a long distance and immediately recognisable by its characteristic steeples. A statue of St Edward, sculpted during the construction of the original church (13th Century), is located between the steeples.
