On the town square in Zbąszyń you can see a statue of a young bagpiper playing the local variation of the bagpipes, called kozioł. Kozioł is made of an goat skin air bag, a chanter and a drone. The bagpiper pushes the air into the instrument via the bellows held under his or her arm. Every September the town square holds a folk music festival called the Bagpipers’ Feat (Polish: Biesiada Koźlarska).
