The old mail coach building is the most recognisable historic object in Pniewy. Due to its location on an important trading route, in mid-19th century an imposing depot for stagecoaches was built in the town. In the depot building, there used to be a post office, a waiting room, a hotel with a restaurant, as well as a coach house and stables. The last stagecoach departed from Pniewy shortly before the outbreak of World War I.
