The current monument was erected in 1958 on the site of an older one which had been destroyed by the Germans during the occupation. The monument was designed and made by Kazimierz Bogdański. Aside from the names of the fallen insurgents who served in the Opalenica company in the battle of Zbąszyń in 1918, the monument also features the names of six insurgents murdered by the Germans during World War II.
