In the vicinity of Stary Jaromierz, on 25 January 1945, the Nazis murdered 41 women in the prisoner transport from Sława to the concentration camp in Bavaria. The march of the Jewish women was later dubbed “the march of death”, since only 40% of the prisoners reached the destination alive. Those who fell ill or were exhausted, were murdered on the spot and buried where they died. In the 1960s, the bodies were exhumed and moved to the cemetery in Kargowa.
