The village was founded in the Middle Ages. In the 19th Century, a manor was built, comprising a palace and farm complex, and a settlement. There was also a park, a cemetery and a large peat extraction plant. The large building, combining half-timbered and brick structure, was used as a school for Wehrmacht troops or officers of the SS.
