Hydroelectric power station in Bledzew

Address Bledzew 58, 66-350 Bledzew
Built at the beginning of the 20th Century, the hydroelectric power station looks more like a fairy-tale castle than a power facility with its large, stylish windows and yellow steeple roofed with red flat tiles. The five-storey power station was built on the Obra river by a German electric company. The hydrogenerators are still working almost trouble-free. The only downtime in the history of the power station lasted 2 weeks and happened in 1945. After the front moved, the power station was restarted and soon taken over by Polish civilian authorities. Today, in the generator hall you can see an exhibition of electric devices originating from small power stations which have undergone modernisation.
