The first temple was built here already in the 13th Century, but the masonry and timber church deteriorated. At the beginning of the 15th Century, a new church was built on its site, with portions of the original walls preserved in the chancel. The church was dedicated to St Nicholas of Myra. From 1540 to the beginning of the 17th Century, the temple was Protestant. Frequently devastated by fire, the church was last reconstructed in the second half of the 19th Century, although the Late Gothic elements were preserved. The majority of the current furnishing and decorations originate from that period. The church has a painting of Mother of God of Klevan and is under the pastoral care of the Congregation of the Mission.
