The construction of the temple, which was originally a three-nave church, began in 1210 in late Romanesque style, but was not completed until 1347, with the architectural style changed to Gothic. The western façade is supported by two square avant-corps, with a stairwell inside the larger one. In the central point of the façade, there is a massive Gothic window, now walled-up, and two blind arches. On the gable, you can see a large, intricate “blind” rosette, considered by many to be the most beautiful rosette east of the Oder.
