Jęczydół was founded in the 18th Century as part of the so-called Frederician colonisation. Its original name, Brenkenhofswalde, originated from a councillor of the war and treasury chamber of the Prussian state named von Brenkendorf. On the outskirts of the village, you can see a ruined Protestant cemetery from the 18th Century. Today, the village is named Jęczydół. Where did such a peculiar name come from? The legend of Jęczydół can explain that.
