“Jezioro Księżno” nature conservation site
Established in 1994 between Lake Wilkowskie and Lake Niesłysz, the nature conservation site protects Lake Księżno and the meadows, shrubbery and tree stands surrounding the reservoir, in particular the marsh and peat bog flora. On the meadows, you can spot march orchis, and in the shrubs, eggleaf twayblade. The shores of the lake are overgrown with reed, especially swamp sawgrass. Aside from common species of water and marsh birds, you can also spot a water rail or a common goldeneye. “Jezioro Księżno” was the first nature conservation site in the Zielona Góra region and one of the first in Poland.
