The Special Protection Area in the Lower Noteć River Valley is a Natura 2000 area spreading from the Pulsa channel through the Noteć Valley, all the way to the Noteć river itself. It provides protection of the river valley and floodplains, meadows and pastures which are home to rare and endangered bird species. In the area, there are also habitats of rare species of dragonflies and birds, and migration corridors of otters and wolves. The local bird species include kingfisher, black woodpecker, crane or common tern. Four types of protected habitats have been identified in the Lower Noteć River Valley: oxbows and eutrophic lakes, ash-alder forests, water courses of plain to montane levels, and grass.
