It was built on the grounds of the former gord. It was separated from the town by a moat with a bridge over it. The castle was a part of the defence system of Wschowa. The first description of the castle is from 1616. In the 19th century, the Prussians arranged a prison in the castle buildings, which continued until the inter-war period and was changed after 1945, when Wschowa was returned to Poland. Today it is a private property.
