Franciscan Monastery

Address ul. Klasztorna 2, 67-400 Wschowa
The monastery was founded in 1457 beyond the territory of the old Wschowa and it was built by the Bernardines. At the beginning it was of half-timbered construction, but in 1556 it was destroyed in fire set by the Protestants. The Bernardines returned to Wschowa at the beginning of the 17th century and rebuilt the monastery in 1629. In the 18th century it was extended by the St. Cross Chapel and a courtyard with cloisters. A presbytery and a Baroque polychromy on the ceiling of the nave were also added.
