Slavs have settled in the Pyrzyce-Stargard Lowland for centuries, in particular around Lake Miedwie. In Koszewko, on a tall hill overlooking Lake Pramiedwie, you can the well-preserved remains of a settlement dating back to the 9th or 10th century which probably belonged to the medieval tribe of Prissani (Polish: Pyrzyczanie). The settlement is located immediately behind the church. There is a number of old trees growing on the old bulwarks; the largest of the local oaks is several hundred years old.
