Moritzstein (Moritz’s Stone)

On the road from Lemierzyce to Słońsk, around 250 m after the town border, you can see an intersection with a forest road (on the right-hand side of the road towards Słońsk), which leads north to a glacial boulder. With the circumference of more than 11 m, the boulder is a natural monument. In the past, the locals used to call the boulder “Moritzstein” (Moritz’s stone), commemorating the bailiff of the Order of St John, Johann Moritz von Nassau-Siegen, a benefactor of the people of Lemierzyce who funded the reconstruction of the burned church in 1679.
